 Oscar Wilde's Libel Case Begins (1895)When the marquess of Queensbury became convinced that his son, Alfred Douglas, was having an affair with Wilde, he began to rail against the author and playwright, publicly accusing Wilde of sodomy, a crime at the time. At Douglas's urging, Wilde sued the marquess for libel. He not only lost the case, but was in turn charged with homosexual offenses and arrested. Beautiful. It sums up the way I feel about life sometimes.
ReplyDeleteHello Elizabeth. This is such a sad poem. Just to let you know that you will never be alone, God is carrying you in his arms and those footsteps that you see in the sand are not yours but his. We, your followers, are carying you in our hearts too and look forward to reading your blogs every morning. Jesus says that not even the sparrows can fall to the ground without the Fathers conscent. You are worth any number of sparrows.
